Ramada Ulaanbaatar Citycenter (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia)

5 Case Rating

Located in City Centre, around 15-20 minutes drive from the international airport. The location is very central with peace avenue and state department store only 15 minute walk from hotel right on a central intersection. The building the hotel is in also has a shopping mall.

Room was very cosy, modern, warm with a large comfortable bed. There is a large side desk with a nice mellow traditional lamp and good enough space to work on a computer with plentiful plugs covering most international sockets.
The bathroom has a large shower, all modern and clean but the water is incredibly hot (hottest ever) so would not recommend putting tap on full hot (you may burn!). The room has a nice large Sony TV which many channel, better options than most Asian hotels with lots of English, American, Asain and Russian networks playing. The room has a very hot radiator which is made the room nice and cosy as outside was -28 degrees. There is also a radiator in the bathroom, I had both on full blast and didn’t feel cold at all. Overall it’s a nice cosy room which I doubt you can find much better in this city during winter.

The hotel has a restaurant but didn’t use it as I was out on business early and late. However did try room service and the pizza and burger were really nice, better than I have found in china in 5 star hotels, only thing is they don’t bring cutlery when they deliver the food which I never experienced before so recommending mentioning it when you order.
There is also a bar branded as the coolest place in UB on the top floor, while this offers good views of the city and haven’t experienced other drinking establishments in UB I would say a dull lounge type bar. Music is pop dance and is loud but decor and design isn’t really that cool (but maybe to Mongolian standards). There is also a lounge bar on the ground floor by reception which has comfortable seats and good for a quick drink if waiting to be picked up. There is a gym and spa on the 3rd floor, quite modern and plentiful equipment and the spa was reasonably priced for a massage (£35) with nice staff.

Staff were really nice especially reception girl, they were really helpful especially as I needed to get some medication and didn’t speak any Mongolian, staff got a taxi there and back and even tried to call pharmacy to confirm I was coming. In the end she translated the meds on a paper for staff to see so no wrong meds given was really helpful. Check in nd check out was also very smooth. Didn’t really have much interaction with other staff other than bell boy and spa but all seemed friendly and nice (as Mongolians are).
Overall I really enjoyed my stay at Ramada, felt warm cosy and welcomed by staff.
